Efficient intermodal transport

Intermodal transport is the carriage of goods using several modes of transport, such as sea, rail or road. The cargo remains in the same loading unit, such as a container, for the entire journey, eliminating the need for reloading when changing modes of transport.

The main part of the transport is usually carried out by sea, rail or inland waterway, while road transport is only a short, final section of the route. The whole is carried out under a single transport contract
(in accordance with Directive 92/106/EEC).

Intermodal transport makes use of different modes of transport - sea, rail and road - without having to transfer the goods to another mode. This solution allows:

  • reduce costs,
  • reduce delivery times,
  • minimise the risk of damage to goods,
  • ensure versatility through container transport.

Our intermodal transport in 5 steps:

1

Transport to the terminal/port

Our freight forwarders organise transport by truck with experienced drivers.

2

Loading of the loading unit

The entire semi-trailer or container is entering the train or ship - goods are not transshipped.

3

Main stage of transport

Transport by rail or sea to a receiving station or port.

4

Final delivery (on-carriage)

The last section carried out by truck or tractor.

5

Consignment monitoring

Our managers track transport in real time thanks to GPS.
